A wonderful very large example of a 19th century ship diorama, the vessel a 20 gun sloop of war, carrying the flag of the United States Navy, also known as a corvette with three masts square rigged and two extra deck guns, sailing in a stiff breeze off a coast with further painted ships in the background and a small town in the distance. The flag carrying 24 stars signfying the ships commission after 4th July 1822 and before 1836.
